The brokerage site is a 44, my site is a 95. Of course, we all know that websitegrader isn’t the be all end all. It does however have plenty of technical tips on how to improve visability which so many sites could use.

Thanks for the extremely useful information!! There is so much information that needs to be taken into consideration. It’s great to know that there are sites like Real Estate Tomato out there to offer help.

One is that the advent of the Internet and the DIY trend have forced agents (the good ones at least) to bridge the “old-school” relationship-based model with the new web-based model. Best of both worlds I say!

If you are running a business that relies on sales, then conversion still is the number one issue. A website doesnt fail because of lack of content. It fails because people dont know what to do with content, they have the wrong content, and they dont know how to get eyeballs to the content they do have. The mantra of content is king is a myth.

I think there’s a lot more to a website that isn’t being measured by the tool, like usability and content relevant to readers. SEO is how people find you, content is how to convert them to customers.

With a really good website as a tool for both agent and client, you can spend more time with the important parts of a home search and not the drudgery.

Honestly. I scored a 98%. That tells me either that their scoring mechanism is flawed or that their comparisons are flawed. My site needs a lot of work. I was hoping to get some direction from that.
I plan to work with Jim to get some of that work done soon.
Still, I agree with the aim of this post. If we want to get more of our business from the web, we need to target it correctly and web content is am important way to do that.

Your site is structurally sound… but I agree, it could use a makeover. =)

Many agents, who work within these brokerages, figured it out a while ago and are now ranked higher than their broker.
