I rarely receive comments on my site. Wow. I am touched, and since I can’t ever keep my mouth shut, I must respond to a few. I’ll try to keep it brief.
Greg: I may take you up on that offer. I have enjoyed your site for a long time and, in fact, have linked to it on Home Buying & Selling.
Ines: If I made you smile, then my work is done.
Teresa: Your hands would NOT freeze on the keyboard. But you are right. This is my dream job. Second only to selling real estate. I can’t believe I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time. I never tire of talking about real estate. And my husband is a saint.
I should point out that About.com is hiring all the time. It is always looking for people who feel passionate about a subject and can write. Enjoyed reading your post and found that you touched on the very thing that brings about authenticity… passion. It shines through and should be shared. I especially appreciated that no matter what our ages, we are all still learning and to reach out beyond your comfort level to learn and share is a gift. The old saying goes that you really know a topic if you have to teach it. When i was in graduate school, I was a Teaching Assistant for freshman Introduction to Public Policy. I think i learned just about as much from that experience as from the two whole years of coursework.
That is how it is with blogging. I couldn’t agree more with the suggestion to blog on a topic that you don’t know. If you have to write an intelligent post about something, you’ll learn a ton and be a better realtor for it. And, you’ll have something to talk about when in the car with clients …

You have my dream job! Actually I think my hands would freeze at the key board if I had to write for money. 🙂 You are right about where the content comes from. Most of mine comes from my readers and clients. The sense of humor thing is so important. I have a family member read some of my posts to make sure that I am not taking myself too seriously.
